Basic skills



This course is designed to provide accreditation for the skills developed by learners following the Adt Literacy Curricum at Entry Level. Students can be assessed at Entry 1, Entry 2 or Entry 3.
The course has three units which cover; Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing. Students can be assessed at Entry 1, Entry 2 or Entry 3.
Students who wish to further develop their knowledge and understanding at Entry Level and who wish to use their achievements in a wider context, may be able to progress to the OCR Entry Level Certificates in a variety of vocational areas such as Adt Numeracy, ICT Skills for Life, Retail, Manufacturing or Job Seeking Skills.

Specification aims



The aims of this specification are to:

- Develop students' skill in speaking to others in familiar situations.
- Develop students' skill in listening to and understanding spoken language in familiar situations.
- Develop students' skill in reading and understanding a range of texts.
- Develop students' skill in writing to communicate information and opinions.
- Develop students' confidence in using literacy skills in a range of contexts for different practical purposes.
- Encourage progression by assisting in the development of the skills and knowledge which students will need in order to undertake further study.

This course is designed to provide accreditation for the skills developed by learners following the Adt Numeracy Curricum at Entry Level. Students can be assessed at Entry 1, Entry 2 or Entry 3. The OCR Entry Level Certificate in Adt Numeracy is part the OCR suite of basic skills qualifications. The other qualifications in the suite are Adt Literacy and ICT Skills for Life. The qualifications have been designed to offer flexible assessment and administration arrangements:

- Students do not need to be named on entry.
- The qualification is unit based.
- Fl and unit entry is available.
- Students can work towards the most appropriate level for their individual needs.
- There are no time constraints on when students work has to be submitted to OCR.
- All units achieved will be certificated.
- Certificates will state the level of achievement in each unit achieved.
- All assessment objectives have been referenced to the core curricum.
- Students evidence sheets are provided to aid the recording/tracking of students evidence.
- All units are assessed by the tutor and moderated by OCR.
- Sample tasks are provided in the tutor's handbook and on the OCR website to allow students to practice their skills.
- The course allows students to progress to Level 1 and Level 2 Adt Numeracy National Tests, as well as OCR Entry Level Certificates in Retail, Manufacturing or Job Seeking Skills.
